What Should We Do?  In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord,  make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8   These are strange days. As each day goes by it seems like we are living in a sci-fi movie. There are people who cling to the Word of God, while others cling to conspiracy theories. All the while as we watch the news it seems like there is not a battle against this virus. No...it is a battle for power. My, my, my, Satan is busy, isn't he? For those of us that are grounded in the word know that there is nothing in heaven nor on earth that will stop God's will. A lot of things in the last days will get down right ugly. It will look like evil is winning. These things will have to happen in order to usher the return of His Son. I had a conversation with someone today that was on the fence with all that is going on. He was thinking maybe it is a hoax to test the waters before "they" take over. Who was they? Not s...

You Are The Temple of God

Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst? 1 Corinthians 3:16 The past couple of days we have covered fear and being overwhelmed. Today I am going to shift gears and talk a bit and talk about the scripture above. I have heard over the past few days pastors, minsters, and church leaders talk about how the restrictions in place is against their right to worship. That the building is the temple of God. As we discussed we are in uncharted waters these are times many of us have not seen in our lifetime. Our government has asked every one to stay home, kids can not go to school, parents can not go to work, and social distancing is in place for good reason. We are all in isolation this is not targeted to one group nor any religion. It is foolish for a church leader to want to carry on as if nothing is happening in this world. I for one understand the importance of worship and fellowship but I also know the importance of k...

Do You Love Me?

John 21:16 Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." We all feel overwhelmed during these times in our lives. People have been confined to their homes, parents have taken over the task of homeschooling their children at the last minute. Not to mention the chaotic mess at the grocery store. The times we live in will make anyone overwhelmed. As we talked about in our previous devotional we do not fear but in this time there is no way of us escaping being overwhelmed. The best remedy for this reciting "this too shall pass" and not listening to every single word that people repeat. I have someone I know and I say I know because I do not become too involved with this person because she is as some would put it a drama queen. She texted me the other day and was repeating a rumor. As I pressed her for where she got her information she said: ...

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you nor forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” As believers what is going on in this world should not plunge us into fear. As his children, we should know better we do not spread fear we calm it in ourselves and others around us. God will offer a peace through us that surpasses all understanding if we allow him to work through us. Scripture is very clear about what is happening in the world today, and we have been warned for thousands of years. In these times we take comfort in those scriptures, and we should all be encouraging others to do the same. We should all be working hard as his disciples in making sure his message is being heard and accurately. Our task is not an easy one, and we will find ourselves growing weary of the opposition if we are not careful. In these times it is important for us to take care of our spiritual well-being. How do we do that? Easy by not thinki...

Scars

He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds, we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 Scars, so many of us have them, they can be scars that are very well seen or they can be scars that are well hidden. They can either set us free or they can keep us in bondage. When you understand that scars are not chains you find peace. Freedom, this word is used so much in the world it is something that almost all of mankind searches for. The most amazing thing about it is when you experience this word it is life-changing. There is only one way to obtain it and that is through Jesus Christ once you have it you are changed forever. Once you become born again in Christ, day by day things about you, around you start changing all for the glory of God. Now, I can sit here and state that life as a Christian is all sunshine and lollipops and if I did that I would not be honest. It is hard and in the Bible Jesus warns ...

Modern Day Doubting Thomas

A Modern Day Doubting Thomas - Mental War John 20:25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” It was Spring of 2008 not long after my father passed away of Cancer. This was the year of the biggest economic collapse since the Great Depression. That year was difficult for several reasons losing my Dad to a terminal illness and making a huge move. With all that was going on in our lives the day was just beautiful. I decided to take my dog for a walk. I sat down on a bench just to take in the day. This gentleman came along and sat down beside me and asked me what kind of dog I had. Making small talk, I thought OK dude I am married! It was not long though into the conversation that I knew he was just wanting to chit-chat. He was our neighbor and he was staying with his mom. As we talked about the weather, where we were...

Knees to The Earth

When I was born again it was the most amazing moment in my life. Here I was this broken, broken, broken woman. I had been betrayed, lied to, and when I learned the truth it was heart-breaking. I had no idea how I was going to make it not one day from the next but one second to the next. To be quite honest falling to my knees that day was not an impulse. I had no other choice, it was either go to my knees or fall into a dark pit with no way out. I was in this small office in my home, and when my knees hit the hard-wood floors the pain was not only mentally but physically. Still I remained, I remained on my knees, in pain physically and emotionally. I did not cry out I SCREAMED, I screamed out to “JESUS” I begged, I pleaded. If you were standing outside that office you would have seen the most pitiful human being in need of a Savior and that was exactly what I needed. I do not need any more weight of judgment from the world. I needed grace, I needed mercy. I knew there had to be a be...

Sacrifices

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23 Since I have been born again I have learned so much about not only myself but others around me. No one in this world wants to be alone, we all want to love and be loved. This is the way God designed us. However, sometimes when it comes to God we just have to go at some things alone. For instance, understanding who we are, our faults, our wrongs, and how we have to change them. There are just no how-to books on this folks, giving up a part of ourselves is hard. More so when you have been a certain way for as long as you have been alive. But when that part within us has caused so much grief to ourselves and those around us we must understand if we want to change for the better that part has to go. I have literally witnessed people hang on to that old self in fear if they gave it up they would go crazy. When I say literally I mean li...

Above Not Below

True Christians that follow the signs of the times know that we are in perilous times. The world is changing and it is changing fast. One of the things that is taking control is technology it can be a blessing but it is also a curse. Technology is not bad, people are. It can be used for good or it can be used for evil. A few years ago I was headed to an appointment I noticed the flags in our community entrance was at half-staff. I thought they really need to raise those Nancy Reagan's death was a few weeks back. Then I thought, Brussels, it is almost as if our flags are constantly lowered still to this day. Every week it seems they are down it is hard to keep up with the reasons as to why. If you turn to any news channel you will find out the reasons. I thought in that moment as I drove by, God what if we went to our knees as fast and as often as we lowered our flags. I know it will not change the future we all know from the book of Revelation this world is in serious t...

Missed Opportunities

365 days in a year, 7 days in a week, 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute. As a human being we spend every second of our life in time. We manage time, it engulfs our life, with time we grow, we change, and we age. As the earth turns and seasons change opportunities come and go. If only we would see God sometimes like we do opportunities in this world. We spend every waking hour thinking about how we are going to manage our time for the week, day, right down to the minute and second. Sadly we tend to put God in this time schedule. We schedule God like we do everything else in our life. When this happens we unknowingly miss opportunities not of the world but from God.  It was not until this year I become aware of this. It was not something I learned from a minister in a sermon, it was not something a friend brought to my attention. It was one day when my son and I were in a drive thru. Time I got home I got on my laptop and I wrote an article on i...

Embrace Change

Genesis 32:9-12 9 Then Jacob prayed, “O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, Lord, you who said to me, ‘Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,’ 10 I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two camps. 11 Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children. 12 But you have said, ‘I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.’” Have you ever felt like your life is out of control, you have no sense of stable ground that you are standing on? You feel imbalanced making decisions do not come easy. So you fret, spend hours if not days struggling with not one but several decisions. Why do we do this? It is simple we want control, we want the situation whether it is good or bad to alway...

Born Again - Knowing You Are The Child Of A King

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 I am not sure if some of you reading this remember vinyl records or not. When the vinyl got scratched it was pretty much history. It would not play it would skip and well your favorite song on the album was ruined. The only solution was to go out and buy a new one. When I think of Jesus I sometimes think of vinyl, why?  When we are born into this world we are born into sin. This is because of our first parent’s it was because of them sin entered into the world through Adam and Eve. What was once perfect, in harmony, and played without a skip was ruined. One thing that is so hard now for me to understand is why people are so blind and prideful to the salvation that our Lord has given to us. It is a free gift and once it is accepted we are set free, and we are no longer in bondage to Satan. Jesus said he came for the sinners;...

See Saw of Life

Seesaw of Life  - Living in God’s Grace We have all been on a playground and I am sure everyone has played o n a seesaw (teeter totter). One person sits on one end and another person sits on the other end, ever noticed the middle though? Have you ever stood in the middle and tried to balance it? If you have you noticed one foot leaned more one way and that side would go down but if you balanced in the middle it leveled out. I thought about this today and I think we treat our Christian walk as if we were on a see saw. Why? Because so many of us do not embrace grace. If someone has read the Bible and knows all the people in it they will know that even those that God chose had some pretty messy pasts.  But get this...He still used them. From Abraham to the Disciples God took the most ordinary people with so much baggage but he still used them. As an example of what he can do for you when you accept His love and grace. I started reading “The Grace Awakening” by C...
